Repurpose Those Clothes
Making a piece of clothing work for all seasons has kind of become my life goal. If I’m spending a decent amount of money on anything it better be taking me from spring to summer to fall.
Here’s how I’m making things work for all seasons.
1. Pick a staple piece. Something neutral, or a more muted pattern. It’s so much easier to style a piece lots of ways if it’s not screaming neon floral print, ya know what I mean?
2. Pick something you love and you know you’ll wear for years to come. Spending $200 on a pair of leopard print pants? Maybe not something you’ll love forever. Spending $200 on a pair of jeans you love that are great quality? Still expensive but let’s just say it’s more likely you’ll wear those jeans more.
3. Pick something that’s timeless, not trendy. A line dresses, mini skirts, leather jackets, etc. Again, I’ll go back to those leopard pants…..they may be cool right now but I doubt you’ll be seeing them next season. I try to stay away from most patterns when trying to pick something to style a few ways.
Ok, let’s look at some examples. I did this a TON on Instagram. If you aren’t following me there go take a peek @jessicasross. I always find something that’ll layer easily too. This most recent #nsale purchase was a Madewell dress that I can wear now and all the way through winter. I could’ve styled this so many more ways too. I thought about even adding a turtleneck underneath as well but it was 97 degrees the day I took these pictures so, not happening.
I’m going to show lots of other examples too. I think it’s great to have these for inspiration when you’re feeling like you don’t know what to wear. I refer back to these pics a lot when I’m in a rut or feeling uninspired.
Alright friends, go repurpose some clothes!
