How Orangetheory Changed My Life

That’s a pretty bold blog title but it’s 1000% true.  Let me back up….

I got pregnant with Colton in 2012.  I definitely wasn’t taking good care of myself.  We were eating out and not working out.  I basically ate whatever I wanted, whenever.  The non 21 year old metabolism was catching up with me.  I remember exactly what I weighed the day I found out I was pregnant, 165.  I know the number on a scale doesn’t matter, I’m using it as a reference point. During pregnancy I had the “eating for two” mentality.  YOLO. I remember going to the doctor weighing 199 and thinking, “OMG, I must have this baby.”  I was induced the next day to a perfect 8 lb 6 oz baby boy.

In between pregnancies I finally decided to try to reign it in with the eating and maybe try my hand at working out.  I kind of had to go big or go home, I’m kind of an all or nothing kind of gal.  I started a paleo diet and joined the YMCA and began bootcamp classes.  In a few months not only was I down to my pre-pregnancy weight but I’d even lost a few more pounds.  I had worked my butt off, I felt stronger and so much healthier.

I got pregnant with Kenzie a couple years later and I went into the hospital having worked out almost every single day.  I had an easier pregnancy, easier labor and easier recovery.  I fully believe that was due to taking so much better care of myself.

Enter Orangetheory.  I had heard about this crazy workout but I. Was. Scared.  I’d been a loyal bootcamp-er for a while and I felt like I was in shape but this sounded NEXT LEVEL.  I got the confidence to finally attend my first class and I didn’t die.  Not only did I not die but I kind of, oddly, loved it. I started off slow with a couple classes a week but after a couple months I’d drank the kool-aid and I was a full timer.  I cannot say enough about OTF (that’s Orangetheory for my non OTF’ers).  Not only has it obviously made me lose a few pounds but it’s made me stronger, more confident and I’ve made some amazing friends in this crazy community.  It’s changed my body in ways I didn’t think possible.  You can kind of see abs, ABS PEOPLE!!!  I didn’t have an ab before I had kids, I didn’t think I could after!

I am so passionate about OTF I’ve decided to pursue getting my personal training certification to be able to coach classes.

I expect to see you all packing out my classes in the next few months, I promise I won’t yell…..too much.
